As they hold sensitive financial data for their clients, fast and reliable IT is critical to their business. They run accounting and taxation software, such as IRIS, QuickBooks and Sage, as well as a number of specialist programmes.

Durrants had worked with an IT company for about 10 years but became increasingly disillusioned with the service they received. Despite being a long-standing client, the IT staff they had to deal with were disinterested, slow to respond and did not even recognise the Durrants name whenever they contacted them.

The whole process really was hassle-free. We experienced virtually no downtime during the reinstallation process and since then our business has been operating at 100% — virtually nothing has gone wrong.

Whenever we need to contact the ACT Support Desk, our query is dealt with fast and effectively, and we are very pleased with ACT as our IT Support partner.

Solution

In June 2013, Durrants decided to work with ACT Systems. They knew that the time was right to invest in their IT and put their trust in ACT to help them do so.

This approach provided Durrants with a more stable and secure IT environment, ensuring their accounting systems and sensitive client data were consistently protected while improving overall performance and reliability across the business.

A complete upgrade of their existing IT infrastructure was needed from the provision of a new business server, to new workstations and laptops and hardwired data points supported by a reliable network infrastructure.

The project involved the transfer of all their existing highly confidential data and software systems, with a focus on secure handling and reliable data backup and protection.

Durrants are now working with ACT Systems on a monthly support basis, supported by proactive monitoring and ongoing system management., which allows them to budget for their IT costs but also ensures that they continue to run efficiently with minimum downtime.

Durrants also recognise that ACT is an important part of their team and would always consult them at an early stage if they were looking at a new piece of software or upgrades.
