Business case
OMBS have a policy of keeping their IT systems up-to-date, this project is the latest stage in the process. The target was to migrate the majority of the on-premise infrastructure to the cloud, removing the reliance on the physical hardware and site. One of the teaching rooms with PCs also needed to be updated as they were approaching their recommended replacement dates.
We have worked with ACT for many years now and have nothing but praise for the team and the services provided. The team are always pleasant and helpful whether remotely or on a site visit.
As a college, IT is an integral part of the day to day, and if we do encounter technical difficulties ACT always ensure that these are resolved as quickly as possible. We highly recommend ACT and the services they offer.
Solution
ACT Systems working closely with Amber Canty (Director of Studies) were able to identify quickly what was needed, given our ongoing working relationship. The plan included migrating all server and student data storage to SharePoint, utilising AzureAD for domain services and Intune for security and customised deployments for printer services etc.
As part of the project ACT Systems spent several days onsite to install a new room of PCs and reload all student workstations to ensure a crisp and clean working environment for the next years students.
As a result of this project, logon times have been much improved, so classes can get started quicker and desktop interfaces are also now unified with SharePoint and OneDrive Syncing, giving students same experience no matter which PC They log onto.
This solution was supported by cloud-based services including Microsoft Azure for domain management and security, alongside SharePoint for file storage and OneDrive synchronisation, ensuring a consistent and secure experience across all devices.
ACT Systems are continuing to work with OMBS on ongoing projects and day to day support and look forward to assisting them with any future IT needs.
